Backstory

In 2011 Serena Schreiber attended a bluegrass jam organized by her friend, poet-musician Kathryn Thomas. After her set, Kathryn said, "You know, we could do this for authors." And so, Howl at the Moon Writers' Jam was born.

In 2017 Serena read about a festival in Amsterdam and a festival in New Orleans and thought, "We could do this for West Palm Beach."

In 2018 the first Urban Stories Festival took place at the WPB Waterfront and the Mandel Public Library with support from Florida Atlantic University, the Downtown Development Authority / WPB Arts & Entertainment District and the Knight Foundation.

In 2019 we continue the tradition at Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Mandel Public Library. And we're always looking for new partners to support our mission of Building Community through Storytelling.

To support the festival, please contact Serena.
